"Who is Jesus"
Matthew 16:13-20, NLT
Rev. John Donaldson
If someone were to ask you, “Who is Jesus?” What would you say? What is your understanding of Jesus’ identity? What does Jesus mean to you? And how does your understanding of Jesus identity influence your own identity? These are questions that come out of our scripture this week, Matthew 16:13-20. I hope you can join us on Sunday at 9 am or 11 am or via the livestream!
Blessings,
Pastor John

Blood Drive Thank You!
To all of the people that donated blood at the August 3, 2026 First Methodist Church Red Cross Blood Drive, THANK YOU!
A total of 21 units of blood were collected! Up to 63 people received whole blood and/or blood products because you took the time to give the Gift Of Life!
A VERY SPECIAL THANKS to: Zack and Patti McLanahan for sending texts to everyone on our donor list. Mike McGarity for getting the Crossroads building ready for our drive. P Jo Phelps, Robin McCall and Kim Hover for greeting and registering our donors. Linda Remlinger for lining up foods for our donors and monitoring our donors post-donation. Linda Remlinger, Susan Lee, Mary Weston, Kim Hover, Jill Maycock, Amelia Hopkins, and Michelle Whaling for supplying our donors with mouth-watering foods. If you have not donated lately or at all, and would be interested in giving the Gift of Life, please call Autumn Wright at 283-6878 or 706-318-1299. You can also send a message on Facebook. If you cannot give at our blood drives, please give blood at another drive. It doesn’t matter where you give….it matters only that you give.
This is how we serve God, my friends. We put action into our words. We take care of His people. We make a difference.
On behalf of the patients, THANK YOU !!!
Thanks again!

Tuesday, August 25, is the 4th Tuesday of the month, and it is our week to bring a little church to Magnolia Estates (68 College Ave, Elberton). We sing, pray, study the Word, and receive Holy Communion. It is always nice to have volunteers to help with the service. If you can join us, give Pastor John a call or text 706-421-6339.

Next Sunday is a Fifth Sunday! We are looking forward to a combined service with the Rev. Tom Atkins as our guest preacher and Al McCall and Mark Wallace sharing the music and leading us in song next week. The service is at 10 am, followed by a Fellowship Lunch around 11:15 am. The church is providing baked ham, and we are asking those attending to bring a side dish to share.

We are still accepting items for the August and September mission project. Items include unisex jogging-type pants, undies, and wipes for pre-k and primary school. Donation bins are located in the entrances.

There will be a Women’s Retreat on Saturday, Sept 19th 10 am to 2 pm at Woodlawn Global Methodist Church (378 Brad Dixon Rd, Elberton). This is a Conference-Wide Retreat, and the featured speaker is the Rev. Judy Stevenson, co-Pastor at Macland Community Church, a Global Methodist Church in the West Cobb area of metro Atlanta. The event is free, with brunch included, but attendees are asked to register at woodlawngmc.com.
