"A Light to Our Path"
Psalm 27:1, 8, 13, 14, NKJV
Rev. John Donaldson
This week, we are looking at selections from Psalm 119. The whole psalm is 176 verses, making it the longest chapter in the Bible. Psalm 119 was written as an acrostic 22-paragraph poem, one paragraph for each of the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, and each paragraph has 8 verses, and each verse in Hebrew starts with the letter of the alphabet represented by that paragraph. Very complicated poem! The theme of this longest of chapters is a reverence for the word of God, and the key verse is # 105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Think about a few simple questions for Sunday: (1) Why do we need light? (2) How does God’s word give us light? (3) How do you turn on the light?
Blessings,
Pastor John

On Palm Sunday, March 29, we will have a combined service in the Sanctuary at 10 a.m., followed by a Fellowship Lunch (the church is providing baked ham; the congregation is asked to bring a side dish), and then the annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Palm Sunday worship service will feature a cantata by our choir. It would be really nice to have more people in our choir for the cantata! If you like to sing and can make joyful noise, please consider joining the choir for the next five weeks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights.
