"Sowing to the Spirit"
Galatians 6:7-10, NIV
Rev. John Donaldson

One of my grandfather’s favorite scriptures was Galatians 6:7 (KJV), "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." He was convinced that this law applied all through life. He thought that if you treat others right, they were likely treat you right. Or, if you mistreated others, it was bound to come back on you someday! The Apostle Paul wrote of how “reaping what you sow” related to our walk with God, and how we can sow, so as to reap spiritual blessings. As we begin the Lent season, let focus this week on how we can “sow to the spirit” from Galatians 6:7-10.

Blessings,
Pastor John

As Martin Luther said, “God doesn’t need our good works, but our neighbor does.”

Thankfully,
Missions
67 residents of Nancy Hart Nursing Center received individual bags of goodies, and staff received baskets of snacks for Valentine's Day. Helping deliver items were Jeana and Chloe Henderson and PJo Phelps. Thank you to all who assisted with items and monetarily!
Enjoy a theatrical production of CS Lewis’s “The Magician's Nephew” at the Elberton Theater this weekend and next. This story is a prequel to the rest of the Narnia series and includes the creation of Narnia and explores many Christian ideas, including creation, temptation, and atonement. Performances are February 20-22, and February 28 – March 1, Friday & Saturday 7 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. Our own Craig Ely is one of the directors, and Lyla Kate Johnson has the role of “Polly”!
Just looking ahead, on Palm Sunday, March 29, we will have a combined service in the Sanctuary at 10 a.m., followed by a Fellowship Lunch (the church is providing baked ham; the congregation is asked to bring a side dish), and then the annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Palm Sunday worship service will feature a cantata by our choir. It would be really nice to have more people in our choir for the cantata! If you like to sing and can make joyful noise, please consider joining the choir for the next five weeks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights.
