Weekly Reminders

This week, we are looking at the famous section of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus talks about worry. This is a passage where Jesus says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Elizabeth Cheney (the 19th-century author and poet) was thinking about the passage when she wrote a simple 4-line poem, “Overheard in an Orchard.”

By request, the sermon this week will be on worry. It is something we all deal with. If you read this before Sunday, text or email me your method for dealing with worry.

Sunday mornings in August, there will be a fellowship time in the sanctuary overflow area from 10:45 to 11 a.m. Coffee, donuts, and something non-sugary will be available!

No Evening Service
With family gatherings and people being away, we have decided not to hold the evening service this week. Next week we will be back at the regular time and place!

Women's Handcraft Group
Molly Martin, Ron’s wife, is interested in starting a women’s craft group, doing crochet, needlepoint, etc. If you are interested, please contact the church office: 706-283-1863.

EC Food Ministry Collection
The Food Ministry is still collecting canned tuna during August. You can drop off items in the Crossroads or Sanctuary entrance or bring them to the church office.

Community Christmas Cantata
The choirs of First Baptist and First Methodist will combine for rehearsals on the third Wednesday of each month. The September 17 practice will be at FBC, the October 15 practice at FMC, and the November 19 practice at FBC. Information regarding December rehearsals will be announced at a later time. All rehearsals begin at 7:00 p.m.
