Weekly Reminders

"Kinsmen Redeemer"
Ruth 1:1-2, NIV
Pastor John Donaldson

One of the treasures of the Old Testament is the book of Ruth. It has rich lessons on the marvelous and surprising providence of God, even in the midst of our often challenging lives. It is a great story! Join us as we worship the Lord on mediate on his word, Sunday, 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. Just a reminder – we also have Sunday School available for all ages from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.

Blessings,
Pastor John

News & Announcements

All are welcome to attend the North GA Global Methodist Church District Three 2024 Charge Conference this Sunday, November 10. The drive will be easy – we are hosting! Officiating will be our Presiding Elder, John Moore, and the Conference Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Kenny Ott. The business meeting and worship service will be followed by a meal in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!

With hosting the District Charge Conference, we have canceled the normal 6 p.m. Worship Service.
Capital Fund Campaign
In the struggles over the last year, many church projects and needed repairs and improvements were put on hold. It is time to move forward again! Please consider making a special donation to our Capital Fund Campaign (CFC). Funds will be used for long overdue church repairs, planned maintenance and the pay for the balance of the cost for the new playground. As we are able, let’s all participate, so that we are building up the church together! Just mark in the memo section of your check, “CFC.” Thank you all for your generous and sacrificial giving!
Veteran's Day
The American patriot, Patrick Henry (1736-1799) said, “The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” Our nation celebrates our brave veterans on Monday with a Federal and State holiday. The date was originally called Armistice Day and celebrated the anniversary of the end of WWI (the peace accord signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918). The name was changed to Veteran’s Day in 1954, by President Dwight Eisenhower and is kept today as a day honoring all military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
Sunday School
We are back to a normal schedule this Sunday, with Sunday School Classes for all ages at 10 a.m. Attending Sunday School is a great way to get to know other Christians and to grow deeper in our faith!
New 1st Kids Meeting Times
1st Kids will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights. Please contact Children's Director Sam Brown at sam@elbertonfmc.com if you have any questions.
As we prepare for the Christmas season, we are accepting donations for the beautiful poinsettias that will be displayed throughout the church. Poinsettias can be donated in honor of or in memory of a loved one for $10 each. Forms are available at the entrances and on the church website; the deadline has been extended to Sunday, November 17th.\
It's that time of year to start packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Boxes are available in the Crossroads Connection Center and Sanctuary. There is a packing label and a paper with recommended items inside each box. Please only put the requested items in the box, as all boxes are required to be inspected at customs and any items not on the list will be removed.

If you would like to go ahead and begin collecting supplies, click the pdf link below to download a copy of the gift suggestion list (boys and girls).

You can also stop by the church office to pick up boxes. All boxes must be dropped off at the church on or before Sunday, November 17th.
Looking Ahead...
White Christmas, A Celebration of Giving
Elberton First Methodist Church is one of the largest White Christmas supporters in our community. On Sunday, December 1st, we will begin collecting for our annual donation. We will observe White Christmas in both services on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
This year, everyone is asked to give Flour, Sugar and Peanut Butter.

As we give thanks for our many blessings and remember that so many families are suffering this year, we ask you to be generous. Please place your donations in one of the boxes (wrapped in Christmas paper) located in the Crossroads Connection Center or in the Sanctuary.

“And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least of these My brethren, you did it for Me.” -Matthew 25:40
