“View from the Other Side“
Revelation 14:12-13
Rev. John Donaldson

“Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!”
-Revelation 14:13
Part of power of Christianity is that we can both grieve and have hope at the same time. This Sunday will be our traditional “All Saints Sunday” as well as a Communion Sunday. At both the 9 am and the 11 am Worship services, we will remember our loved ones and affirm the promise of eternal life and the hope of a heavenly reunion. There will also be an opportunity to light a candle in memory of loved ones. We have all been so wonderfully blessed by those who have gone on before us. This is an opportunity to remember and be thankful.
See you Sunday,
Pastor John
The Wednesday Night menu for November 4th is Cheesy Hamburger Casserole, Green Beans, Corn on the Cobb, and Garlic Bread. Please register online or call the church office by 4 p.m. on Monday, November 2nd. This is a wonderful time of fellowship with our church family. We will also be set up to take directory pictures that evening.
No Evening Service
We have several regulars who will be out of town this Sunday night, so the evening service is canceled. During the month of November, we will meet on November 8th and November 29th.

Granite City Fall Festival Volunteers
EFMC will have a booth at the Granite City Fall Festival on Saturday, November 7th, and we are looking for volunteers to help greet visitors and share information about our church!

The festival runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and we would like to have at least two volunteers at our booth during each one-hour shift.

If you are interested in helping, please contact the church office and let us know what time you are available. We appreciate your willingness to help us connect with our community!

Charge Conference Choir
The cat is out of the bag; our wonderful church choir is being recognized! This year’s District 17 Charge Conference is at Woodlawn Global Methodist at 4 p.m. on November 15th, and our choir has been asked to share a couple of songs and lead the singing for one or two more. If you would like to join in this special Charge Conference Choir, just let Davlin know, or simply come to the practice on Wednesday night, November 11th.
We are excited to announce that we now have a Community Food Box on our church property to help provide food for individuals and families in need!

A special thank-you goes to Mike Wright and Don Dye, who did a fantastic job planning and building the food box. We also want to recognize our installation crew, Matt Henderson, Mike McGarity, and Mike Wright (along with his trusty level!), for getting everything in place. Thank you, gentlemen, for sharing your time, talents, and hard work to make this ministry possible!

Now, church family, we need YOUR help!

We want this food box to be a blessing to our community, but we need everyone's help to keep it stocked! We encourage you to bring nonperishable food items to help fill the box.

Suggested donation items include, but are not limited to:
  • Canned goods (pop-top cans preferred)
  • Ramen noodles
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Peanut butter
  • Crackers
  • Granola/protein bars
  • Applesauce pouches
  • Shelf-stable pudding cups

Please note: This list is simply a guide! We welcome other nonperishable food items that are unopened, in good condition, and suitable for outdoor storage.
As we prepare for the upcoming Advent season, we are looking for families who would be willing to participate by reading the Advent readings during our Sunday services. If your family is interested in being part of this special tradition, please contact the church office. We would love to have you join us!
It’s time to pack a shoebox!

Boxes for Operation Christmas Child are now available in the Crossroads Connection Center and Sanctuary. Inside the boxes, you will find gift suggestions along with a label to place on the outside. Please check the appropriate box based on whether the child is a boy or a girl and the age range the box is intended for.

When returning the box, please include a $10 donation to cover the shipping cost. You can place your donation inside the box (on top of all other included items) or in the offering plate.

All boxes are due back to the church on or before SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15. Thank you for participating in this wonderful ministry providing Christmas gifts to children around the world.
We love the yearly church directories! And what makes them great are all the pictures of our church families! We will be set up in the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday night, November 4th, and Sunday morning, November 8th. Please take a few minutes and have your pictures taken!
We are once again hosting a Meal Packing Event with Rise Against Hunger! The event will be on Sunday, November 15, following a 10 a.m. Combined Worship Service. Following the service, we will move over to the Crossroads Connection Center to pack boxes. We are very excited for this opportunity to provide 10,152 meals for those in need around the world.

This year, everyone volunteering is encouraged to register before the event to ensure an on-time start. If you need assistance registering, we will have a station set up at both services beginning Sunday, October 18 to help you register.
