"Unchanging Love"
Jonah 4:1-4, NIV
Rev. John Donaldson

The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.
Frederick Lehman
Since childhood, we have all heard the story of Jonah. A whale swallows a prophet, right? Well, yes, this is an interesting part of the Jonah story, especially as it shows that we cannot ever flee from God. But the real message of the Jonah story is what happens when Jonah finally goes to Ninevah. Jonah had resisted making this trip, since he hated the Assyrians. Jonah is also afraid that God doesn’t feel the same way about them. Was Jonah right or wrong? Join us this week as we look at the story of Jonah and the unchanging nature of God.

Blessings,
Pastor John
Add your voice to the songs of praise this Sunday night, September 20th, in the congregational “hymn sing” service at 6 pm in the Sanctuary. Our choir director, Davlin Smith, and organist/pianist, Joe Jossey, will be leading us along as we worship the Lord in song.

This is a service primarily made up of the congregation singing hymns. The congregation will be invited to just “call out” favorite hymns, though you can also email or call in your favorites ahead of time. (Also, if you have a favorite that is not in our hymnal, we can put the words on the screen if you request it ahead of time.)

Following the service, we will have light refreshments in the overflow room. Come and sing! Stay and visit!
Lay Leadership Committee
It is time for the annual meeting of the Lay Leadership Committee! This committee is also known as the "Nominations Committee.” The church has several committees/boards that are on 3-year rotations - Trustees, SPRC, Finance, and Lay Leadership - so as one class rotates off, new people need to be nominated for the incoming class. And sometimes, even in positions or committees that do not rotate, there are people who feel they have served long enough and are ready for a change. The first meeting will be Monday night, September 21, at 6:30 pm. If you have concerns or suggestions for the Lay Leadership Committee, or if you would like to volunteer in some area, please contact the Pastor.

Daytime Bible Study?
We have several interested in a daytime Bible Study. It would be around 10:30 am on Wednesdays. If you would be interested in participating, please call or email the church office.

Magnolia Estates Chapel Service
Our monthly Chapel Service at Magnolia Estates is this Tuesday, September 22, at 11:00 am. If you would like to help with the service, please contact Pastor John.
