Just How Narrow Is It?
Matthew 7:13-14
Lay Leader, Dave Heydinger
Hey Church Family,
I am looking forward to worship together this Sunday - what a privilege. In full transparency, the message I am preparing this week has been lying heavily on me for a while, and I am more than a bit daunted by it. The reason is because Jesus makes it so clear that it is a matter of life and death for all of us – everyone we know, and everyone we love. By its nature, this passage demands that we explore what it means to be saved and look deeply into our hearts and our faith. Please consider reading Matthew 5-7 ahead of time, which is the Sermon on The Mount. Our passage is just two verses as part of the summation of that greatest-of-sermons, but pound for pound I would say they are as significant as any in all of scripture. We’ll look at several other famous statements by Jesus that align with this passage as well and see plainly that He certainly doesn’t mince words as He paints a clear picture that we must see. Bring a friend!
Godspeed,
Dave

A great way to stay informed on church life is to attend the quarterly meeting of the Administrative Council. There is a time after the reports for new business and for comments from the floor. All are welcome to attend and speak; only council members have voting privileges. The meeting is Thursday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
