"Genuine Faith"

James 2:14-18, NIV

Rev. John Donaldson

According to a survey from Lifeway, 72 percent of those who do not attend church claim that one reason they do not attend Is that the church is “full of hypocrites.” Why would people think such a thing? What does it take for our faith to be seen genuine? James gets to the root of the issue in our scripture this week, James 2:14-18. Join us to worship in person at 9 or 11 a.m. or join us online via the livestream on Facebook and YouTube.

Blessings, Pastor John

This Sunday at 3 p.m. the funeral for Barry Lanier Haston will be held here at Elberton First Methodist. Barry, who attended here in his youth, was a veteran of the Coast Guard, and worked many years in public safety, culminating in his 12 years as the Sheriff of Elbert County. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Haston family.
Song Sermon On September 29th
Next Sunday, September 29, national & internationally known singer, Ralph Freeman will be sharing a Song Sermon at a special 10 a.m. Worship Service. Mr. Freeman has been in music ministry since 1998, singing before Presidents and Popes, and he has developed Song-Sermons, as a new and creative way to share the gospel. There will be one combined service meeting in the Crossroads Connection Center. Following the service please stay and enjoy lunch in the church Fellowship Hall. The church is providing chicken and ham. If you are planning to attend the meal, please sign up using the form in the Crossroads Connection Center or the Sanctuary, indicating how many will be attending and what you are bringing to share.
Mission Emphasis for September and October
We will begin collecting hoodies in September and October. They can be new or used (in good condition) from kids who have already outgrown them, and they can be any size. Beginning in September, bins will be located in the Crossroads Connection Center and Sanctuary entrances to drop off.

His voice has touched the lives of many and now will touch the lives of people across America as he performs on The Voice this season! The show premiers on Monday, September 23rd at 8pm. There will be a community watch party in the Granite Bowl on Monday night where the show will be aired on the matrix board! Gates will open at 7:30pm with free admission. The concession stands will be open. Please come and cheer on Jaukeem this Monday night!
