"Tree Or Chaff"

Psalm 1, NIV

Rev. John Donaldson

With 150 chapters, the book of Psalms is more than twice as large as any other book of the Bible and more than half the size of the entire New Testament. It is the most quoted OT Book in the NT (68 times). Passages and chapters in the Psalms continue to be the most memorized and most turned to parts of the Bible. So where does this wonderful book begin? We will be looking at Psalm 1 this week. The focus of this psalm is on how what we pay attention to can shape us, in the psalms words, so that we become more tree like or more chaff like. Come to church Sunday, and see what it is needed to become more solid! I hope to see you all in person at 9 a.m. or at 11 a.m., or that you can join us via the livestream.

Blessings,
Pastor John

Something New in June -- “Better Together”
Walking Club
Studies have shown that a morning walk can boost your energy and improve physical and mental health. And a morning walk beats the heat! Come out for the new church walking club, “BETTER TOGETHER!” We will meet on Monday mornings at 8 a.m. at the parking area across from St. Mary’s Catholic Church (155 Forest Avenue) and walk a loop or two around on the Granite City Trail. This beautiful 20-acre greenspace has a nice, paved walking trail that can be done in half-mile loops, with plenty of benches and two public restroom sites. As Mark Twain said, “Walking is the only exercise you don't have to be good at to enjoy." Note: In case of rain, we will meet at the church office area and create an indoor course.
Father's Day
This Father’s Day, we will accept donations in honor or memory of your father. All donations will be split between the Children and Youth Ministries. Please pick up a card at any entrance or submit your donation by clicking the button below. $5 per name, and the deadline to donate is Wednesday, June 12th.
NIV It Is
By a wide margin, the church has voted that the preferred translation for a Pew Bible would be the New International Version. In the not-too-distant future, you should see the NIV Bibles in our sanctuary pews. To make a special donation to help defray the cost of the Pew Bibles, just mark your check “Bibles.” The cost is $14 per large print, $9.50 per regular print.
1st Corinthians Bible Study
